Why We Often Miss the Obvious?

We live in a time where information is literally at our fingertips.

Need to know how to change a tire? There’s a video for that. Want to learn how to play the ukulele?

You’re just a few clicks away from strumming your first chord. But despite having all this knowledge at our disposal, why do we keep missing the obvious?

Let’s be real: Every student knows they should study. Every employee knows that staying motivated is key.

Every business owner knows that happy, motivated employees are worth their weight in gold.

And every entrepreneur knows that when life hands you a lemon—especially a rotten, fraud-induced one—you learn, make some lemonade, and move on.

Yet, somehow, we all still get tripped up by the basics. Why? Let’s dive into the reasons, with a few laughs.

1. Why We Ignore the No-Brainers

You’d think common sense would be, well, common. But in reality, it’s as rare as a unicorn at a horse show.

We all know what we should do, but the obvious often gets tossed aside like last year’s fashion trends.

Take this, for example: We’ve got endless educational content on YouTube—everything from Stanford lectures to DIY rocket science (seriously, it’s out there).

But what do we binge instead? Family vlogs. Because apparently, watching someone else’s grocery haul is more thrilling than learning something new.

2. Life Is a Mercedes, But We’re Stuck in Neutral

Imagine this: You’ve got a shiny, new Mercedes in your driveway. It’s sleek, powerful, and built to perform.

Now, picture this—every morning, instead of driving it, you just let it idle in the driveway.

Sounds absurd, right? But that’s exactly how many of us treat our lives.

We’ve been gifted with extraordinary potential, but too often, we choose to coast through life, staying in the safe, slow lane. Why?

Because many of us have bought into the myth that life is just about enjoyment and nothing else.

However, if we’re not careful, we end up with a life that’s all idle and no drive.

3. Breaking Out of the Bias Bubble

We all come with a set of biases, whether we realize it or not. It’s like carrying around a suitcase packed by someone else—filled with their old clothes, outdated ideas, and maybe a few of their questionable fashion choices.

For many of us, especially those who grew up in an era of job security over innovation, these biases keep us stuck.

We’ve seen our parents work their whole lives in one job, and we think that’s the way it’s supposed to be.

But guess what? Just because bell-bottoms were cool once doesn’t mean they’re still in style.

To really thrive, we’ve got to unpack that suitcase, toss out what doesn’t fit, and fill it with fresh, forward-thinking ideas.

It’s time to swap out those old biases for something that lets us move more freely.

4. The Herd Mentality: Moo-ving in the Right Direction

Remember your school days when everyone seemed to have the same career ambitions—doctor, engineer, accountant, or bust?

It was like a giant game of “Follow the Leader,” except the leader was a vague, collective idea of success that didn’t leave room for individual dreams.

I was guilty of it too—chasing what seemed safe instead of what truly excited me.

But here’s the thing about following the herd: You might end up in the wrong pasture.

And no one wants to be stuck grazing in a field that doesn’t satisfy their appetite for life.

The solution? Break away from the herd! Sure, it’s scary at first, but that’s where the magic happens.

Life’s too short to play it safe all the time. If your passion is off the beaten path, blaze that trail anyway.

5. The Passion Dilemma: Where’s the Spark?

It’s shocking how many people don’t discover their true passions until later in life—if at all. It’s like having a box of fireworks and never lighting them.

They’re packed with potential, but without a spark, they just sit there.

Why does this happen? Because most of us aren’t exposed to the full range of possibilities early on.

Our education system often hands us a menu with only a few options, leaving us unaware of the buffet of opportunities out there.

No career counseling, no exploration—just a pre-set path that may not fit who we are.

But here’s the good news: It’s never too late to light those fireworks.

Start exploring now, and if something doesn’t ignite that passion, move on to the next. The sky’s the limit—literally.

6. Waiting for the Perfect Moment: The Mirage

Here’s a classic scenario: You’re waiting for the “perfect” moment to start something—whether it’s a new project, career move, or even just picking up a hobby.

But here’s the kicker: The perfect moment is like a mirage in the desert.

It looks real from a distance, but the closer you get, the more it disappears.

During the pandemic, some companies froze in place, waiting for the storm to pass.

Others, however, threw caution to the wind, innovated, and found new ways to thrive.

The lesson? Stop waiting for perfection. Life is messy, unpredictable, and full of surprises—but that’s what makes it interesting!

7. When Life Throws a Wrench in Your Plans

We’ve all been there—everything’s going smoothly, and then life throws you a curveball.

Maybe it’s a global pandemic, a financial hiccup, or an unexpected loss. Suddenly, you’re stuck in a situation you didn’t ask for and can’t control.

It’s tempting to wallow in self-pity, but that’s like sitting in your broken-down car, honking the horn, and hoping someone else will come fix it.

Instead, get out, pop the hood, and start figuring out how to get back on the road. Life’s too short to let setbacks turn into full stops.

8. Final Thoughts: Don’t Miss the Obvious, Own It!

So, here’s the takeaway: Life is your Mercedes, and it’s time to hit the gas.

Stop ignoring the obvious, break free from old biases, and don’t be afraid to leave the herd behind.

Explore your passions, seize the moment, and when life throws you a curveball, knock it out of the park.

Because at the end of the day, the only thing standing between you and an extraordinary life is recognizing the opportunities that are right in front of you. So, buckle up and enjoy the ride!
